Oyama takes part in the annual Cape Town Bonsai Festival, where lovers of the art of bonsai, share their passion with the residents and visitors of Cape Town. The festival is a partnership between City's Recreation and Parks Department the Cape Regional Association of Bonsai.
The event, also attended by the Consul General of Japan to Cape Town, is a spectacular exhibition of bonsai trees, a celebration of trees and nature and puts the spotlight on the importance of conservation and protecting biodiversity and green open spaces in the urban environment.
Bonsai clubs in the Western Cape display trees grown by their members. Members have an opportunity to participate in a competition that draws some of the best examples of the art and puts them on display for visitors to see and admire.
The festival attracts a large crowd of visitors who take advantage of the good weather and free demonstrations offered by experienced growers. The Company's Garden is the perfect venue for a bonsai festival.
